ALA Book Buzz: A Conversation with Two Multicultural Publishers

If you’ll be at ALA in Chicago this year, please join Lee & Low Books and Cinco Puntos Press for a special ALA Book Buzz session on Monday morning:

Talk is Cheap: A conversation with two multicultural publishersJason Low, Publisher, Lee & Low Books

Lee Byrd, Owner and Publisher, Cinco Puntos Press

Everyone agrees that more diversity in children’s books is a good idea. BUT…why doesn’t the number of books by and about people of color ever increase?

Join two independent publishers (both with more than two decades of multicultural publishing under their belts) for a frank conversation about:

  • The ongoing problems facing multicultural books
  • How librarians and publishers can work together to create lasting change
  • Upcoming books that you will want on your shelves

Special guest, Printz Award Honoree, Pura Belpré winner, and PEN/Faulkner Prize winner BENJAMIN ALIRE SAENZ, will share his insights on diversity.

Monday, July 1, 2013

9:00–10:00 AM

McCormick Place, Theater A

Room S104A

Bring your friends, your questions, and your ideas. We look forward to seeing you there!
